Santa Clara Basin Watershed Management Initiative

In 1996, the Santa Clara Basin Watershed Management Initiative (SCBWMI) was established by the EPA, State Water Resources Control Board and Regional Board to manage water resources within the Santa Clara Basin watersheds.  The SCBWMI is guided by stakeholders that include local, state and federal government agencies; business, agriculture, and industry associations; and environmental and civic groups. The Program’s involvement in the SCBWMI is organized by the continuous improvement process.  Resolution of specific watershed issues and recommendations raised within the SCBWMI are addressed with funding and Program support.

The Program’s watershed management strategy  intends to fully integrate watershed management efforts with the SCBWMI. Activities which include implementing environmental monitoring and assesment measures are necessary components needed to fully integrate the Program's efforts.
